The position

About the role

British Institute of Lasers supplies and supports laser and IPL equipment used by clinics across the US and overseas. The team includes engineers, support staff and technical specialists who take care over product safety, servicing and the experience received by each client.

We are looking for a Quality Assurance and Compliance Officer who is comfortable working with detailed records, defined procedures and technical information. You will review quality processes, help maintain compliance documentation and coordinate the checks required to keep equipment files complete and current.

Some tasks will be routine, such as checking inspection records or updating controlled documents. Others may involve investigating a recurring issue, preparing information for an audit or helping an engineer understand which evidence needs to be recorded.

The role suits someone who notices small inconsistencies, asks sensible questions and can explain technical requirements without making them needlessly complicated.

Your work

Main responsibilities

Review quality procedures

Review and update quality control procedures used for laser, IPL and related aesthetic equipment.

Maintain compliance files

Keep technical, safety and quality documentation organized, accurate and easy for the relevant teams to use.

Coordinate product checks

Help organize product testing, inspections and routine checks, making sure results are properly recorded.

Support internal audits

Prepare records, review evidence and help internal teams respond to findings from quality or compliance reviews.

Record technical findings

Document inspection results, corrective actions and outstanding issues in a clear and consistent format.

Guide internal teams

Help engineers and support staff understand documentation requirements and relevant compliance processes.

Protect record accuracy

Check that quality, product and safety files contain the right information and remain under suitable control.

Improve working processes

Identify areas where procedures can be clearer, stronger or easier for colleagues to follow correctly.

Compliance scope

The areas you will support

CE documentation

Help maintain the records, declarations and supporting technical information connected with applicable CE marking requirements.

ISO-aligned processes

Support controlled procedures, consistent records and quality practices shaped by relevant ISO requirements.

Product safety

Make sure safety checks, inspection evidence and product information are recorded carefully and followed through.

Document control

Maintain clear document versions, review dates and approval records across quality and compliance files.

The exact standards and documentation involved may vary by product and market. Part of the role is checking which requirements apply, keeping suitable evidence and raising questions when the position is unclear.

Experience and approach

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience in quality assurance, compliance, technical administration or a related field.

  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, CE documentation or ISO-aligned quality systems.

  • Strong attention to detail when reviewing controlled documents, inspection records and technical evidence.

  • The confidence to manage detailed information without losing track of deadlines or outstanding actions.

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical requirements in straightforward language.

  • Good organisational habits and a steady approach to routine checks and document reviews.

  • The ability to work constructively with engineers, support staff, suppliers and external partners.

  • Sound judgment when deciding whether an issue can be corrected directly or needs further technical review.

A careful working style

Detailed work with practical consequences

A missing record, an unclear inspection result or an old procedure can create problems later. You will need to take documentation seriously while still understanding the practical work taking place around it.

The role involves regular contact with engineers and support colleagues. You may need to challenge an incomplete record, ask for extra evidence or help someone understand why a particular check matters. The best approach is firm, calm and useful.

Accuracy matters more than rushing. With that said, you will also need to keep work moving and prevent small actions from sitting unresolved.

Equal opportunities

British Institute of Lasers welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, disability, religion or age.
